I can see how to do it if you select 11.1 set up, but I won't be using all 9 amps in the Denon. Can I run a 4.1 (5.1) or 6.1 (7.1) set up and easily set just the 'front left and right' pre outputs for sending to the external power amp. I should add I am currently using the Denon as a 4.1 system until my Epos M22 is repaired at which point I will go back to a 6.1 setup (I'm not a fan of the centre speaker option for various reasons).Īnyhoo the question is this. The external amp but would still be able to switch inputs to my CD player etc to just the front speakers for serious music listening when I am not using the Denon as a home theatre amp, which is a nice option. Probably a Cyrus One HD as it has an AV input which bypasses the volume control, hence meaning I can use the Audsessy setup without worrying about levels changing (in an overall surround system) if using the external amp. I have a Denon x4700H and want to use a separate power amp for the front pair. yes there in Marshall 4x12 cabs x2 !!!!!! No AV amp was ever going to power them, so I had to use a decent powerful amp !! the room rocksīit late to this party. I chose Celestion Vintage 30 and G12H-100s (original UK 1980s versions not Chinese) in mixed pairs 360 watts per side or 720 in total and I like em loud. I do play music (heavy hard rock) so my front stereo speakers are important to me. The reason I make this comment was I found using Crest and QSC amps the volume needed then from the AV amp for the channels it did power was a lot lower leaving a lot more head room. Crowns were quiet and needed an extra oomph to get loud, Crest and QSC power amps were both naturally louder, QSC were great as they also had a built in crossover. I came across such an issue when choosing my front stereo amp. I think they all use high gain signal inputs to boost the up front volume over standard equipment for testing. The comment about RMS and manufacturers quoted watts is an interesting question and one I have an interest in. I know a few of the producers and they take great care and effort in their work and its worth using a "proper" amp, AV amps are really bad when it comes to stereo imaging. Also since there on brackets I can position them as I choose something I found very useful over other options especially up firing (joke) and ceiling since they just fire directly down.Īlthough you might not think it, films and TV have a lot of music on the front stereo speakers (and sub wave lengths). I tried some Atmos specific speakers but compared to my JBL Control One Pros, I went for the speakers I already owned love and have already installed. I would argue that you do not need dedicated "ATMOS" speaker for the extra extended channels as its only a different decoding algorithm over the older 7.1 format something Dolby can charge manufacturers a licence to use.
